We are Breakspeare Community Preschool and Nursery and you will find us in Abbots Langley. We welcome children from the age of two years until 4 years for their preschool and nursery years.
Happy, healthy, curious learners
At Breakspeare we follow the Early Years Foundation Stages (EYFS) curriculum which covers the 7 areas of learning:
Personal, Social & Emotional Development
Communication & Language
Physical Development
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding The World
Expressive Arts & Design
We believe the early years are the crucial time for developing children's enjoyment of learning, their engagement and motivation. It's an important time for children to develop their ability to persist and show determination.
Our team work to guide and shape young children, they create a sense of friendly co-operation with clear rules and limits. This show that each child is valued as an individual and helps each child to live and learn alongside others.
We help children to manage and enjoy being part of a group, learning how to share and take turns. Our environment supports learning new vocabulary and knowledge across the 7 EYFS areas. We see children develop skills such as problem solving and decision making which will benefit them throughout their education and the rest of their lives.
Before starting at Breakspeare we gather information from parents and carers to help us learn about your child and their interests, which feeds into our planning. Parents are essential partners in children's learning. Children achieve more when preschool and parents work co-operatively together.
Parents can keep up to date with their children's learning and how we incorporate the EYFS curriculum through the weekly newsletter, our half term plan, website and parents evening.
There is no fixed blue print for the early years curriculum, at preschool our curriculum planning is informed by the current children's interests and passions. We recognise the importance of introducing the children to new and interesting concepts and subjects, for their growth and development.
We support children as they grow with us to be happy, healthy, curious and ready for the next stage of their education.
