We are Breakspeare Community Preschool and Nursery and you will find us in Abbots Langley. We welcome children from the age of two years until 4 years for their preschool and nursery years.
Our team lead a number of sessions each day
At our preschool, children enjoy engaging morning and afternoon sessions filled with play, creativity and learning. Whilst primarily a sessional early years setting, families can also choose to extend their child’s day with extended hours before and after sessions.
The Morning Session (9:15–11:45am) begins with a warm welcome and hanging up coats and bags before going off to play. Children free-flow play both indoors and outdoors. Our space supports all areas of the early years curriculum (EYFS) through creative, active and language-rich activities. Children access small breakout groups known as Leaf, Flower and Petal for age-appropriate learning. Healthy snacks are available during the session and we end with all the children coming together for music and movement.
The Afternoon Session (12:30–3:00pm) takes on the same format as the morning. Older children extend their play through teacher-led “Busy Box” activities like turn taking games, scissor work and the white boards and pens.
Families wishing to extend their child’s day can join us for our wraparound care subject to availability:
Breakfast Club (8:30–9:15am) where children enjoy a nutritious start with cereal, fruit, toast and a choice of milk or water. A variety of fun activities follow breakfast, that differ to ones planned for the preschool day.
At Lunch Club (11:45am–12:30pm) is a sociable experience where children bring a healthy packed lunch, milk or water can be provided.
After School Club (3:00–4:00pm) rounds off our day, we offer children tasty snacks such as pancakes or tea cakes and fun activities until home time.
Children staying for their academic nursery year (age 3 turning 4) have the opportunity to attend full days, making the most of up to 30 hours of funding, as we prepare them for the next step in their school journey.
